Max’s mum has decided to invite a boy from one of the poorer areas of Paris to spend the summer at her home in the country. She is hoping that Max will learn how to get on with someone less fortunate than himself, and also, that he will enjoy having a new companion.
At first the two boys clash, but little by little they come to appreciate each other, despite being from different social and cultural backgrounds.
A short novel for readers 9 and over that uses humour and realism to explore stereotyping and shows the importance of overcoming barriers on the road to friendship.
